A B O U T

Described as “lush and mysterious” (MinnPost), Benjamin Webster’s music weaves intense virtuosity, nuanced textures and timbres, and expressive clarity into personal, urgent musical experiences. His works draw equally from music of the past and present, blending the old and the new into a compositional voice that is at once familiar and distinct.
Notable performers of Benjamin’s work include the Minnesota Orchestra, San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, the Viridian Strings, the Yale Philharmonia, and the Lyris Quartet; and his music has been heard at the festivals of Lake George, Bowdoin, and Norfolk, among others.
Additional recognition and honors include fellowships and awards from Copland House CULTIVATE, MacDowell, the Ucross Foundation, and the ASCAP Foundation. He holds degrees from the University of Miami and the University of Southern California, and he is currently a doctoral candidate at the Yale School of Music.
